LOST Series Finale Analysis Update

My initial thoughts about the series finale of Lost are currently marinating in a flash sideways waiting room. I am rather delirious and exhausted from the events of the last 24 hours, so I wanted to manage your expectations for my finale post.

I do not know when I will write up my extensive analysis, but I appreciate your patience in advance. You deserve the best and most thorough coverage I can offer, and frankly...I'm not ready. Not now, not yet.

In the meantime, I'm going to take my Constant for coffee. And we're going dutch, without question.

Following my normal protocol, I will avoid all other media and blog coverage of The End until I have time to post my own thoughts. I look forward to hearing from all of you, but I would like to ask that you please refrain from posting your theories in the comments section and wait to do so on my actual analysis entry.

See you on the other side...of the Lamp Post.

Jo, thank you for a great run. I am emotionally exhausted and drained after The End. I will miss this show, these people. But I am happy, too, that for a time, I got to live in their world and wish for their happiness.

Best.

Although I just found your blog a year ago, I am so happy I did. It is nice to find someone with the same enthusiasm and devotion to such a great show. I will patiently but eagerly await your blog post on the finale. Congrats on a job well done and get that much needed rest.
Regards
Carolyn

My sense of loss is coming in waves. I realized this when I saw the "next episode" countdown clock.

I have the final score playing over and over in my head.

I love how it was set up that everyone who hated the flash-sideways can just blame the people who 'made the place they could all be together'. ;)

Hi, Jo! Thank you so much for your positivity! There is so much hate out there and people wait to pounce when given the opportunity. So thank you for your honesty and positivity.

It was a lot of fun seeing you in person yesterday -- you did a great job with the panels.

Even more fun: seeing you run over to Jay during the commercial breaks, presumably to converse excitedly about what was going on.

I didn't really know how I felt about The End. I do know that I was emotionally drained and crying after each 'revelation'. I remember that you said you try not to watch who is guest starring so I didn't and the reward was tenfold. I was pleasantly surprised! After rewatching it and crying all over again ( I am a mess)I really appreciate the episode and there couldn't have been a better fitting ending. I loved it. So I would like people to watch it again and you will be more than satisfied. Thank-you Jo for your intellectual insight on Lost and though we never met for being my "constant".

thanks jo for getting me into watching lost for the first time during last year's rewatch campaign of the first 5 seasons... it was an amazing experience and the emotional themes, discoveries, trials, and victories have mirrored my own personal journey in life and brought me a great deal of insight and faith. how appropriate to share the journey with you, my friend, and this wonderful community you've build!

Hi, Jo. I'm not totally sure what to make of it, but if nothing else, I at least found it intriguing -- and that is the stained glass window in the church. It had different symbols from six major religions. You probably noticed it yourself, but I just thought I'd mention it in hopes you might have an opinion about it in your analysis.

I've really enjoyed your very detailed & insightful Lost analysis. Good luck with all your future projects. :)

I enjoyed your analysis.

I still need time to recover from this emotional episode. I can't bring myself to watch it again yet.
