Abrams, Cuse & Lindelof: The Autographs

Last month I bid on and won a box set of Season 1 Lost Trading Cards, autographed by J.J. Abrams, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (see signatures in photo)!

All profits were donated to the Writers Guild Foundation Industry Support Fund, which provided food, housing, transportation, medical and other expenses to members of the industry who were aversely affected by the Writers Strike. Inside the box are a series of
unopened packages of trading cards. I don't normally collect memorabilia, but I couldn't resist this one and it went to a great cause.

Just had to share.

The Fate & Future of Season 4

Judging from the various quotes today from Executive Producer/Writer Damon Lindelof, it looks like we will be treated to at least 5-6 new episodes of Lost this season, should the writers strike end this week.

(E! online):
"Indeed, it would appear that we are in the endgame of the strike. Personally, I couldn't be more psyched to be part of this union. Like any negotiation, some parts suck and some parts surpassed my wildest expectations for what we could accomplish, but most of all I'm left with a feeling of pride.

As for Lost (pending the actual lifting of the strike, which we vote for on Tuesday), a game plan should begin to manifest by the end of the week. All I can say is that Carlton and I and the rest of the writers have every intention of making sure you guys get more episodes this season beyond the eight already completed. How many and how they will be aired is a conversation we'll be having with our bosses, but as soon as we've got a plan, we'll tell the fans first."

(AP):
"We very much want to come back and do as many episodes as possible. How many episodes can best serve our story? And what are the production realities? I don't see why we couldn't deliver all eight remaining episodes."
(LA Times):
"I think the big task ahead of us is to basically come up with the best plan both creatively and logistically for Lost moving forward. If they go along with what we kind of want to do, my guess is it will be fairly aggressive. So every day counts.
We have to look at all the notes that were taken right before we left in terms of what we're going to do creatively for the remainder of the season and refresh our memory a little."
After only two new episodes, I am hooked back in entirely, if not more. So this is news to my eyes and ears.

Who Wrote Find815?

Thanks to my new blog friend Annie in MN for asking about Find815...because it brought out my inner conspiracy theorist.

I admit it, I am more than skeptical about who is behind Find815. It may appear that the site was unveiled to build fervor for and coincide with the new season of Lost, but I wonder if it was created and written by the actual producers and writers from the show, or even with their consent/blessing. Is Find815 an ABC network creation, or an official piece of the Lost puzzle?

Many of you might be saying, "I don't care." Perhaps this seems like a trivial inquiry, but I am interested because I prefer to support projects which have been created and/or sanctioned by the official writing staff of our favorite show. And as you know, they've been a little busy, and a little unemployed for a few months now. Which makes it highly unlikely that Find815 was their baby.

I know that most of you are disgruntled with the lack of new programming and very happy to have Lost back on the air, at least temporarily. But it is important to remember the big picture, and why the writers are on strike. Here is my position on the matter.

If you have any information about who is responsible for Find815,
please enlighten us!

See you on Thursday, if not sooner.

Going, Going, Gone! I Got LOST

As most of you know, I have been following, supporting and covering the Writer's Strike since the beginning. Because to be perfectly honest, this blog wouldn't exist if it weren't for the talented people at every level who are responsible for entertaining me; writers, directors, actors, crew, etc. And now most of them are out of work. So I decided to put my money where my mouth is.

Instead of upgrading my grandfather of an iPod, I bid on and won a complete set of Lost Season 1 trading cards in the Fans4Writers Silent Auction. While I have never been a card collector per se, 100% of the proceeds from this item go directly to the Writers Guild Foundation Industry Support Fund. And not only is the entire box set still shrinkwrapped, it will be personalized to me, with autographs from Lost creator J.J. Abrams and writers/producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. So how on earth could I pass that up?!

By the way, what do you think of this new location and design? I have a poll up, but I'd love to read your comments as well.

Huge thanks to my friend Nick, who was kind enough to design the new logo.
